In the past week, ex-Turkey merchant bar prices have fallen by $10/mt to $700-720/mt for November-early December shipment, while a limited tonnage is available for late October shipment, depending on the size and quality. According to sources, special discounts are applicable for serious buyers. A few merchant bar producers are taking their time before quoting fresh offers to be on the safe side amid higher production costs.
International buyers are also delaying new purchases, preferring to monitor the import scrap and billet price trends in Turkey.
