Turkish merchant bar prices have increased by $10/mt on average to $680-700/mt FOB, mainly for late September-October shipment, against the backdrop of the surprise ex-US scrap deal in Turkey, however the import scrap price trend is expected to gain clarity after a few deals.

Most merchant bar producers are not in rush to cut their export prices due to the slow international trading activity. Aggressive ex-Russian billet prices are also put pressure for further discounts, while the sanctions Russia are facing from European Union and USA is an obstacle for possible exports of merchant bar which is produced using Russian origin billet.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Price ($/mt)

Angle

680-700

IPN-UPN

690-710

Flat bar

710-730

All prices are on FOB basis and Late September-October shipment.
