Turkish merchant bar producers have mostly increased their export offers by an average of $12.5/mt to $715-730/mt FOB over the past week, for August-early September shipment. The main reasons are higher import scrap and billet prices. A few merchant bar producers have stopped quoting in order to monitor import scrap prices. “International buyers are taking their time as regards concluding new purchases and want to be on the safe side,” one source mentioned. Moreover, sources report inquiries are mainly being received from the US, Latin America, the Balkan region and Africa.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Price ($/mt)

Angle

715-730

IPN-UPN

725-740

Flat bar

745-760

IPE

All prices are on FOB basis and for August-Early September shipment.
