Turkey’s merchant bar export prices have moved down by $10/mt on the upper end during the past week, with angle prices decreasing to $510-520/mt FOB. However, international buyers’ firm bids, particularly from North Africa, for Turkish angle are still heard at $490-500/mt FOB.
Meanwhile, Turkish merchant bar mills state that it is hard for them to accept these firm bids for angle exports since their production costs are at high levels due to domestic quotations at $430-445/mt ex-works for billet which is used as the raw material in merchant bar production.
While international buyers continue to make price inquiries for Turkish merchant bar, they are still exerting pressure on prices.
