Turkish mills are attempting to maintain their official dollar-based wire rod prices amid the rapid currency fluctuations and firm scrap import price trend. Most buyers have frozen their new purchases as they are waiting for the Turkish Central Bank’s interest rate decision tomorrow.

Most suppliers are quoting for January delivery, while a limited tonnage is available for late December delivery. According to sources, special discounts are applicable for serious buyers in order to support the buyers from rapid currency fluctuations.

One Iskenderun-based mill has kept its wire rod price at $840/mt ex-works since Monday, November 8 for February deliveries. Another mill in the region is currently offering wire rod at higher prices for late January delivery.
