Turkish domestic wire rod prices slide amid weaker scrap

As of today, May 10, Turkish domestic wire rod prices have fallen by $40-50/mt compared to Tuesday, April 26, against the backdrop of rapid currency fluctuations, weaker scrap prices and sluggish demand.

One Iskenderun-based mill opened its wire rod sales at $900/mt ex-works yesterday. Another mill in the region has not announced its wire rod price for now.

Most buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts when the negative sentiment in the scrap segment is taken into account. A few suppliers are attempting to apply aggressive pricing policies and are offering sizeable discounts for serious buyers only. Most mills are offering for June delivery, while a limited tonnage is also available from stocks.
