Domestic steel wire rod prices have been kept stable in Turkey from the end of last week. Special discounts are applicable for serious buyers. As a result, most end-users are exerting pressure for additional discounts in order to have an advantage in their welded wire mesh exports. “Mesh grade wire rod should be around $800/mt ex-works with the minimum additional processing cost to support our export sales,” a source told SteelOrbis. Last week, Icdas’ rebar price was at $700/mt ex-works, while its wire rod price was at $820/mt ex-works last week, and currently its prices are at $710 and $820/mt respectively. Buyers’ ideas regarding lower wire rod prices are supported by the gap with local rebar offers, which has reached around $110-120/mt.
