SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers’ price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are currently as follows:

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, exclude VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

During the past week, the uptrend of import scrap quotation in Turkey has not been reflected in domestic wire rod prices due to the weakness of demand, causing prices to remain in the range of $500-515/mt ex-works. Meanwhile, welded wire mesh demand received from Turkey’s construction sector is still slack.

On the other hand, the most recent ex-CIS wire rod offers to Turkey at $475-480/mt FOB for July delivery heard last week are not considered to be attractive due to the 7-10 days required for delivery as well as the additional $15-25/mt freight costs and port charges. Since domestic wire rod offers are more attractive, Turkish buyers continue to exert pressure on CIS-based producers’ offers to Turkey.
