Wire rod prices in Turkey have mostly remained stable since the end of last week. One Izmir-based has raised its wire rod price by $10/mt over the same period. Icdas opened its wire rod sales at $1,050/mt ex-works yesterday and kept its wire rod price stable during the day. Turkish mills are mainly offering wire rod for late May-June delivery. Icdas is expected to commission its wire rod production line by the end of this month. A few welded wire mesh producers have succeeded in selling high volumes to the European Union, and also to the UK, which is a positive sign for the demand side. A few wire rod buyers are waiting for the interest rate decision of Turkey’s central bank due on Thursday, March 17, before restocking.
One Iskenderun-based mill kept its official wire rod price at $1,125/mt ex-works for limited tonnages to be delivered in May. Another mill in the region has still kept its wire rod sales closed for now.
