Turkish domestic wire rod prices mainly trend up

Over the past week, local Turkish official wire rod prices have mainly risen by $5-20/mt, while remaining stable in the Iskenderun region, amid higher import scrap prices and currency fluctuations.

Most Turkish mills are offering for January-early February delivery, while a limited tonnage is available from stocks, depending on the size and quality.

Kardemir's 6-27 mm wire rod of SAE 1008-1010 grade price is at $710/mt ex-works and its sales are still open. This price level is also pulling back other mills from increasing their wire rod prices further. Sources report a few mills are giving aggressive prices in order to generate sales and were even testing Kardemir's wire rod price level at the end of last week.

On the demand side, the trading activity seems relatively slow for now due to the unclear financial situation in the market and credit payment issues.
