Turkish domestic wire rod prices mainly soften

Turkish producers’ official local wire rod prices have fallen by $5-10/mt over the past week amid currency fluctuations and sluggish demand ahead of the holiday period in mid-July. Most suppliers are giving aggressive prices to generate sales and most wire rod buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts in order to maintain their advantage in their welded wire mesh exports. One Iskenderun-based mill has started quoting this week for September delivery. Another mill in this region has closed its wire rod sales in the afternoon.

Most Turkish suppliers are offering wire rod for September delivery, with a few producers currently offering limited tonnages either available from stocks or for end-of-August delivery.
