Turkish domestic wire rod prices firm up on back of scrap uptrend

Turkish wire rod producers have as expected followed the general market uptrend and increased their domestic offers. The key support is coming from the upward movements in the import scrap segment, which is expected to remain strong for now. Most Turkish mills are offering wire rod for April deliveries locally. Some producers in Turkey’s Iskenderun region had refrained from offering to the market recently, but have restarted selling earlier than expected. On February 18 integrated Kardemir has announced its 6-28 mm wire rod offers at TRY 2,845/mt ($470/mt) ex-works, up by TRY 140/mt ($18/mt) compared to two weeks ago.

Currently, local Turkish offers for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:
