During the past two weeks, Turkish mils’ domestic wire rod prices have decreased by $2.5-5.0/mt to $505-520/mt ex-works. The decreases recorded in import scrap quotations in Turkey as well as political uncertainties and economic instability have contributed to this downtrend in the local Turkish wire rod market. While their fairly full order books have in general caused Turkish wire rod mills to extend their delivery times, some mills, particularly in Turkey’s southern regions, have extended their delivery times to the second half of July. On the other hand, market players state that the supply volume in the local Turkish wire rod market may decrease after the installation of the PC strand production line by a wire rod mill in Turkey’s Marmara region in July.
