Over the past week, buyers in the local Turkish wire rod market have been cautious about making new purchases due to the high volatility of the US dollar-Turkish lira exchange rate and have continued to make bookings only to meet their immediate needs. However, Turkish wire rod producers have maintained their price levels stable week on week as import scrap prices have remained strong. According to market sources, some Turkish wire rod mills’ order books are at favorable levels as a result of the previous deals concluded in export markets. However, the declines observed in Chinese wire rod export quotations has negatively impacted Turkish mills’ domestic and export sales since the beginning of this week, as buyers have started to adopt a wait-and-see stance.
