Today, January 12, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 150-350/mt ($7-16/mt) compared to Monday, January 9, against the backdrop of sluggish demand in the local market. Some local traders believe that the rebar prices may decrease further amid the lack of demand, and Kardemir's rebar sales of slightly over 25,000 mt at $707/mt ex-works supported this belief. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 15,650-15,800/mt or $706-713/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Most Marmara-based mills are still offering their official rebar prices at $720-730/mt ex-works, including the prices of Icdas A.S. However, most buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts.
In the Iskenderun region, one mill is offering rebar at TRY 15,800/mt ex-works, equal to $713/mt at the current exchange rate, while another mill in the region has closed its rebar sales today.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt Metallurgy’s rebar sales have been closed since the beginning of this week.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
