Today, March 8, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100-550/mt with minor changes on US dollar basis, amid the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar and positive sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 15,400-15,950/mt or $900-932/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Icdas A.S. has raised its rebar price by $20/mt to $920/mt ex-works today. Most mills in the Marmara region opened their rebar sales today at $935/mt ex-works, raising their rebar prices by $15/mt to $950/mt in the afternoon. Izmir Demir Celik (IDC) opened its rebar sales at $910/mt ex-works and closed them in the afternoon.
In the Iskenderun region, two re-rollers opened their rebar sales at TRY 16,000/mt ($935/mt) and TRY 16,250/mt ($950/mt) ex-warehouse respectively earlier today.
In the Karabuk region, Yolbulan’s rebar sales are still closed.
On the demand side, most construction companies are having a difficult time due to the sharp rebar price hikes.
