Today, on June 11, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 10/mt ($7/mt) in Marmara region, while spot rebar prices in the rest of the country are stable on lira basis, with dollar-based prices up by $6-7/mt today amid currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 7,150-7,250/mt or $721-731/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
In the Marmara region, the general rebar price range has settled at $720-745/mt ex-works. According to sources, one Marmara-based mill opened its rebar price at $735/mt ex-works early this morning, and raised its dollar-based rebar price by $10/mt to $745/mt ex-works, after selling 1,000 mt of rebar. Another Marmara-based mill has also stopped quoting rebar prices to avoid currency fluctuations risks today.
In the Izmir region, most mills are offering rebar at $730/mt ex-works today.
The local Turkish rebar market is relatively silent as the week ends due to the currency fluctuations seen today. The Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate was in the range of 8.48-8.59 yesterday. Most local traders are taking their time to purchase additional tonnages for now.
