Today, August 15, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100-200/mt ($4-9/mt) compared to Thursday, August 11, amid currency fluctuations and firm prices in the import scrap segment. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 13,800-14,100/mt or $651-665/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Most Marmara-based producers are offering rebar at $670-680/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S., while most Izmir-based mills are offering rebar at $660-670/mt ex-works.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt Metallurgy has opened its rebar sales at TRY 14,750/mt, equal to $696/mt ex-works at the current exchange rate.
Most local traders are taking their time to restock material until the Turkish Central Bank’s interest rate decision is announced on Thursday, August 18, and in order to have clearer picture of the import scrap price trend. They are seeking to destock their previously purchased materials first.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
