Today, August 1, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 200-300/mt ($9-14/mt) compared to Thursday, July 28, against the backdrop of rapid currency fluctuations and the tonnages traded in the local market in late July. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 12,700-13,200/mt or $600-623/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Icdas A.S. has decreased its official rebar prices by $10/mt to $630/mt ex-works, while a few Marmara-based mills are offering rebar prices at $625/mt ex-works. Moreover, a special sales campaign rebar price is standing at $610/mt ex-works in this region, SteelOrbis has heard. An Izmir-based mill is offering rebar at $600/mt ex-works. The sale of some tonnage has been rumored at this price, though it has not been confirmed by the time of publication.
Sources report that some local traders are restocking material as they believe local rebar prices have hit the bottom.
In the Iskenderun region, one re-roller opened its rebar sales at TRY 13,400/mt ($633/mt) ex-warehouse at the current exchange rate.
