Today, April 21, local rebar spot prices in Turkey have risen by TRY 50-70/mt ($1-3/mt) amid the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment and the ongoing currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 5,950-6,020/mt or $616-624/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Most mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions are currently offering rebar at $630-635/mt ex-works at the current exchange rate.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt A.S. has raised its rebar price in the local currency today by another TRY 20/mt to TRY 6,100/mt ($632/mt) ex-works, with the dollar price down $3/mt.
In the Iskenderun region, Bastug Metallurgy has closed its rebar sales today, while Koc Metallurgy’s rebar sales are still closed since yesterday. Some rebar buyers believe that Turkish mills may increase their rebar prices in line with the positive mood in the import scrap sector.
