Today, May 20, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mostly risen by TRY 20-50/mt ($2-5/mt), only remaining unchanged in the Marmara region, compared to Monday, May 17, amid the positive sentiment in the import scrap sector. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 7,300-7,350/mt or $739-744/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
After the national holiday on May 19, most Turkish mills have been trying to keep their rebar list prices stable. As a result, most mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions have kept their rebar list prices at $750-760/mt ex-works today. On the demand side, the market is silent as most buyers are refraining from new purchases due to financial tightness and in order to gain a better understanding of the import scrap price trend.
