Today, March 10, spot prices in the Turkish domestic rebar market have decreased by TRY 30-70/mt due to currency fluctuations, negative sentiment in the import scrap segment and silent demand, with just minor changes in prices on US dollar basis on the same day. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 5,630-5,690/mt or $629-635/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Most Turkish mills are trying to keep their rebar list prices firm, with their prices mainly varying in the range of $640-650/mt ex-works, while a few mills are offering slightly higher levels with the current exchange rate. Sources report that special discounts are available for serious buyers and that the general sentiment in the market is negative among buyers.
