Today, August 16, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased by TRY 30-100/mt, with minor changes on US dollar basis, amid weaker scrap prices and currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 6,820-6,850/mt or $682-685/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Icdas has cut its rebar price to $690/mt ex-works, down by $10/mt from the end of last week. Sources report that one Marmara-based mill has opened with a sales promotion price at TRY 6,850/mt ($685/mt) ex-works today: however, some local traders are refraining from concluding new purchases amid their high inventories and some believe rebar prices may decrease further if the import scrap price downturn trend continues.
Most mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions have set their rebar prices at $680-$690/mt ex-works, versus $680-710/mt ex-works a week earlier.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt Metallurgy have opened its rebar sales at TRY 7,000/mt ($700/mt) ex-works today.
