Today, January 18, spot prices in the local Turkish rebar market have decreased by TRY 10-30/mt ($6-9/mt) since the end of last week, amid currency fluctuations and silence on the demand side due to the snowy weather and as market players’ are waiting for the Turkish Central Bank’s interest rate decision on Thursday, January 21. As of today, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 5,570-5,620/mt or $629-635/mt ex-warehouse depending on the region.
Icdas has kept its rebar at TRY 5,670/mt ($641/mt) ex-works, stable on lira basis and down by $4/mt on US dollar basis compared to the end of last week. Most Marmara-based mills are offering rebar at TRY 5,795-5,840/mt ($655-660/mt) ex-works today.
Most Izmir-based mills are currently offering rebar at TRY 5,665/mt ($640/mt) ex-works.
“Because we are not receiving any demand, we are not sending rebar price inquiries to producers,” one trader stated.
