Over the past week, Turkish official domestic dollar-based merchant bar prices have mostly fallen by TRY 260-360/mt ($15-20/mt) against the backdrop of the negative sentiment in the import billet segment and sluggish demand ahead of ramadan. One İskenderun-based mill kept its official merchant bar price at $790/mt ex-works this week.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for april delivery and only limited tonnages are available either from stocks or late march delivery. A few re-rollers have also remained unchanged their HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) at $940/mt ex-works, SteelOrbis has heard. Most local buyers are in a wait and see stance until Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due Thursday, March 23.
