In the past week, Turkish domestic merchant bar prices have increased by TRY 230-730 ($15-42/mt) to TRY 12,350-13,700/mt ex-works against the backdrop of higher import scrap prices in the latest deals. Demand for merchant bar is moderate. Sources report additional discounts are available for serious buyers only.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for September delivery and only limited tonnages are available either from stocks or for late August delivery. Sources report that official HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) prices are around $1,020-1,050/mt ex-works.
