Turkey’s merchant bar export prices soften amid pressure from weak demand

Turkish merchant bar mills’ export prices have decreased by $10/mt during the past week, with their angle export prices declining to $505-515/mt FOB, for July shipment. Meanwhile, market sources state that Turkish mills will most likely accept firm bids at $500-505/mt FOB, which have been heard in the market since last week, due to the weakness of merchant bar demand in the international markets.

Most of the price inquiries received by Turkish mills for merchant bar are coming particularly from North Africa and also from Latin America and the Far East region. However, the number of price inquiries received by Turkish steelmakers has decreased, market sources state.
