Turkey’s merchant bar export offers fall slightly

Turkish merchant bar producers have reduced their export offers over the past two weeks due to the weakness of international demand. Turkish mills’ merchant bar export offers are currently at $550-575/mt FOB, on average $2.5/mt lower compared to the levels in SteelOrbis’ report published on February 28.

Meanwhile, SteelOrbis has been informed that demand received by Turkish merchant bar producers from international buyers is at very low levels, with Turkish mills trying to respond to this limited demand which has been received mainly from the Middle East, South America, Canada and Central America, despite trade restrictions.

On the other hand, market sources state that Turkish mills are offering various price levels to the international markets, adopting a competitive approach due to the limited demand.
