Local Turkish merchant bar prices in Iskenderun have increased by TRY 30/mt because demand there is higher as compared to other regions in Turkey. SteelOrbis has been informed that merchant bar supply is also limited in Iskenderun.
However, domestic merchant bar prices in Turkey’s Denizli and Izmir regions had already been increased last week due to higher local billet prices in Izmir. Therefore, they have remained stable week on week, also influenced by sluggish demand in the İzmir region. In the given period, domestic merchant bar prices in the Karabuk region have moved sideways, also due to the weakness of demand.
Meanwhile, domestic angle prices in Turkey are currently at TRY 2,600-2,840/mt ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT. Market sources state that merchant bar producers are offering discounts of TRY 30-50/mt for serious buyers in most of the regions due to sluggish demand. The prices below are for cash payment.
