Turkish mills have as expected increased their domestic and export wire rod prices, following the significant increase in import scrap price levels seen in deals last week. As a result, wire rod offers in both segment have moved up by $5/mt since last week.

Currently, the offers for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Region

Price ($/mt)

Price change ($/mt)

15.10.2019

Marmara

450-455

+5

Thrace

450-455

Izmir

445-450

Iskenderun

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, exclude 18 percent VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes. Market sources indicate that local wire rod buyers are cautious about concluding new purchases and are only buying to meet their daily needs, not to replenish stocks.

On the export side, most Turkish wire rod export offers for end of November-December shipment are at $445-450/mt FOB.
