Today, August 23, Turkish integrated mill Kardemir has cut its dollar-based wire rod prices by $30/mt as compared to Wednesday, August 10 amid the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segment contributed by the rapid currency fluctuations.

Accordingly, Kardemir’s price for 5.5 mm SAE 1008-1010 grade wire rod is currently at $675/mt ex-works, while its 6-27 mm wire rod of the same steel grade is offered at $635/mt ex-works. In addition, 28-56 mm wire rod of the same steel grade is offered at $660/mt ex-works. Kardemir is applying an aggressive pricing policy, a few mills stop quoting any wire rod price for now.

Wire rod prices exclude 18 percent VAT.
