Turkey’s integrated mill Kardemir has announced its 150 mm x 150 mm billet sales after a long break. The producer has set its offer prices at rather high levels, providing support for other local billet suppliers and also providing some room for costlier imports.

Accordingly, Kardemir has increase its billet offer prices by TRY 160/mt ($23-24/mt) compared to May 28 to TRY 2,650/mt ($391/mt) ex-works for S235JR grade, while its S420-B420 (formerly III-A) grade billet is available at TRY 2,680/mt ($395/mt) ex-works.

Other domestic producers are offering billet at $390-400/mt ex-works and above depending on the region and with the higher Kardemir price their price levels are more justified. Import offers are being voiced at $380-385/mt CFR, up by around $5/mt over the past week.

Prices exclude 18 percent VAT.
