Turkey has continued to maintain an occasional presence in the export billet market. According to sources, one mill has recently closed a 35,000 mt lot to Peru for December shipment through an international trader. The price is reported as $421/mt FOB, but it includes extras for medium carbon and high manganese. The size of the extras is estimated at around $10-13/mt by several market players. Current offers for ex-Turkey billet are at $415/mt FOB, while bids are at $400/mt FOB and below. Italy and Morocco are said to be actively inquiring.

In the local market in Turkey, according to sources the billet deal price levels have also slid by $2-3/mt compared to last week. A 10,000 mt lot has reportedly been traded at $414/mt ex-works Iskenderun. In the Bartin area, around 5,000 mt were sold at $410-412/mt ex-works and similar volumes were sold in the Izmir region at $413/mt ex-works, SteelOrbis has learned.
