Turkey has been offering billet abroad rather actively this week with prices having decreased by around $10/mt. The majority of mills are ready to sell at $370-375/mt FOB (October production), focusing mainly on the close-by destinations. Around 20,000 mt were sold at $375/mt FOB; inquiries have been also coming from Morocco and Egypt. In the Far East, offers from Turkey have mainly been reported at $410/mt CFR, equivalent to around $370/mt FOB. “We have more chance to beat the CIS here in the Mediterranean than in Asia,” a producer said.

In the Turkish domestic market, billet is on offer at $375-385/mt ex-works, down by $10-15/mt over the week. Demand remains weak with bids in Iskenderun coming below $370/mt ex-works, SteelOrbis has learned. Earlier this week, the integrated producer Kardemir sold around 32,500 mt at around $385/mt ex-works for S235JR grade, as SteelOrbis reported earlier.

Import offers have been reported mainly at $370-380/mt CFR levels, with mills being reluctant to purchase amid weaker scrap prices. Some interest might be seen in the segment of wire rod grade, market players say.
