Japanese EAF-based steelmaker Tokyo Steel has rolled out its list of steel prices for November after an increase announced last month. The overall outlook of the producer is positive as demand in the international market and locally in Japan has been on the rise, while supply has been relatively tight.
Tokyo Steel has announced its price for HRC with thickness above 1.7 mm at JPY 67,000/mt ($634/mt) ex-works, while prices for rebar are at JPY 61,000/mt ($577/mt) ex-works. At the same time, H-beam prices in the official list of prices are unchanged at JPY 81,000/mt ($766/mt) ex-works. However, the producer said that it “will raise the actual selling price for H-beam by JPY 3,000/mt [$28/mt],” according to its official statement.
For the flat steel market in Japan, the company sees better demand and still some shortage of supply, which provides support for prices. In the long steel market, “Inventories of building materials are still extremely low... Cargo movements are expected to rise by the end of the year,” Tokyo Steel stated.
