Domestic rebar spot prices in Turkey’s Marmara and Karabuk regions have decreased by TRY 8-9/mt as of today, January 6, with business activity generally remaining weak. However, some restocking activity has been reported in some regions of Turkey as mills were able to offer attractive prices to traders. In the Izmir area, according to sources, around 10,000-15,000 mt of rebar were sold at TRY 3,100/mt ex-works, including 18 percent VAT. In addition, it was reported that in Marmara up to 10,000 mt were traded at the same price level.
Turkey’s Icdas has kept its 12-32 mm domestic rebar prices at TRY 2,703/mt ($453/mt) ex-works, slightly down on US dollar basis due to currency fluctuations. Meanwhile, offers from Izmir Demir Celik have also moved sideways at TRY 2,669/mt ex-works, with the prices on US dollar basis declining by $2/mt since early January to $447/mt ex-works.
