Some of the domestic longs producers in Algeria have decided to provide discounts in order to trigger some livelier sales, while others are still taking their time and offering at the same levels as in the previous month.

Tosyali Algerie has decreased its rebar and wire rod prices by DZD 3,000/mt and DZD 2,000/mt respectively over the past month to DZD 63,250/mt and DZD 72,250/mt, both on ex-works basis. In US dollar terms, the producer’s prices have decreased by $23/mt and $14/mt over the past month, to $452/mt ex-works and $473/mt ex-works, respectively.

Algerian Qatari Steel, another large domestic producer, has so far kept its domestic offers at $467/mt (DZD 65,150/mt) ex-works, while its wire rod is available at $492/mt (DZD 75,000/mt) ex-works. The company has restarted operations at its wire rod and rebar manufacturing facilities last week, SteelOrbis has learned.

Prices on US dollar basis exclude nine percent and 19 percent VAT for rebar and wire rod, respectively.
