Domestic rebar demand in Romania remains moderate while prices have firmed up over the past two weeks. Currently, big rebar batches are available for local customers at €410/mt CPT, while smaller batches can be purchased at €420/mt CPT. The product is available from producers’ stocks. “The local price was around €405/mt CPT on average two weeks ago,” a source mentioned. The above domestic prices do not include 19 percent VAT.

In the import segment, offers are mainly coming from nearby countries. Suppliers from Hungary and Bulgaria are in the market with €405/mt ex-works offers with estimated delivery costs of €27/mt and €40-42/mt respectively. The rebar price from Moldova for the Romanian market has been reported at €412/mt CPT Iasi. Offers from Turkey are at $420-430/mt FOB or around $440/mt CFR on average, which corresponds to close to €395/mt CFR. As a result, most offers from neighbouring countries may be considered overpriced, while Turkish mills may have an opportunity to sell to Romania, though being limited by the rebar quota to the EU, which is only around 77,000 mt for the third quarter.
