Today, June 4, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 60-100/mt ($9-13/mt). Some traders believe the market has hit bottom for now, partly as the rumoured low-priced deals closed by mills this week are mainly considered as being due to special agreements. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 7,100-7,150/mt or $695-700/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
On the traders’ side, some traders have gotten rid of excessive stocks and have started quoting higher prices while taking advantage of the currency fluctuations. Sources report that a few local traders in the Iskenderun region are still quoting aggressive levels in order to generate sales. In addition, today one re-roller in this region opened its rebar price at TRY 7,200/mt ($705/mt) ex-warehouse and closed its rebar sales in the afternoon. Most Marmara and Izmir-based mills are currently offering rebar at $700-720/mt ex-works.
