Brazilian distributors are selling small to medium tonnages of rebar to domestic clients at BRL 2,900/mt ($918/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, local sources told SteelOrbis.

Prices for the product with the CA-50 grade, 10mm thickness product as reference are stable since a 3.6 percent increase four weeks ago.

A downturn in the local civil construction sector virtually halted rebar imports during the first half the year, until 8,900 mt were imported in July from Peru at $458/mt, FOB conditions. However, the country’s rebar imports showed no significant volumes in August.
