Sales of rebar by distributors in Sao Paulo are currently negotiated at BRL 4,676/mt ($1,211/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, local sources told SteelOrbis. The price, referring to the CA-50 grade, 10 mm thickness product, compares with BRL 4,514/mt one month ago.

The price also refers to very small tonnages, as higher volumes or direct sales by producers are usually entitled to significant discounts.

In May, Brazil did not import any rebar, according to the ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC. The last rebar import offer, received this week from China by Brazilian importers, was priced at $590/mt CFR, against $595/mt CFR one month ago.

The price refers to the QC/HRB400 grade, CFR conditions, in a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil.
