Sales of rebar by distributors in Sao Paulo are currently negotiated at BRL 4,676/mt ($1,260/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, local sources told SteelOrbis. The price, referring to the CA-50 grade, 10 mm thickness product, is stable in BRL terms since early June. Such price refers to very small tonnages, as higher volumes or direct sales by producers are usually entitled to significant discounts.
In July, Brazil imported 16,300 mt of rebar from Turkey at $585/mt, FOB conditions, according to the ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC. The last rebar offer, received this week from China by Brazilian importers, was priced at $580/mt, against $590/mt one month ago. Such price refers to the QC/HRB400 grade, CFR conditions, in a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil.
