The last import rebar offer to Brazil from China was priced at $540/mt, against $515/mt one month ago, CFR conditions, in a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, referring to the QC/HRB400 grade.

In February, Brazil imported 13,200 mt of rebar from Turkey at $528/mt and a small volume from China (12 mt at $469/mt), both FOB conditions. The tonnage level was the first significant rebar import by the country since July 2018, possibly reflecting a burgeoning recovery in the local civil construction sector, chiefly housing, but certainly an indication of the high prices in the domestic market.

A small distributor in Rio de Janeiro told SteelOrbis that he is selling rebar in very small volumes in the domestic market at BRL 4,108/mt ($1,089/mt), unchanged in BRL from one month ago, full taxes and delivered to customer. Prices can reportedly receive substantial discounts in case of large volumes or direct sales by the steel producers.
