The last rebar offer received from China by Brazilian importers was priced at $538/mt, against $545/mt one month ago, CFR conditions, in a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, referring to the QC/HRB400 grade.
In August, Brazilian customs did not register rebar arriving at Brazilian ports, still reflecting the lower demand from the country’s housing sector. In July, Brazil imported 5,800 mt mt of rebar from Turkey at $488/mt, FOB conditions.
A distributor in Rio de Janeiro is selling rebar in very small volumes in the domestic market at BRL 4,576/mt ($1,095/mt), full taxes and delivered to customer, the same price in BRL of one month ago. That price, referencing the CA-50 grade and 10mm diameter, can receive substantial discounts in case of large volumes or direct sales by steel producers.
