Domestic rebar prices in Turkey have started this week with an upward movement, increasing by TRY 15/mt on average to TRY 2,763-2,816/mt ex-warehouse, excluding VAT, due to the strengthening of the US dollar against the Turkish lira. However, in Turkey billet supplies have increased and domestic billet prices have decreased since some billet contacts concluded by Turkish billet suppliers with Egyptian buyers have been cancelled after the Egyptian government imposed provisional safeguard duty on billet and rebar imports. Meanwhile, although demand for rebar in Turkey is slack, domestic rebar prices have increased mainly due to the weakening of the Turkish lira against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, Turkish mill Icdas has opened its 12-32 mm rebar prices today, April 22, at TRY 2,840/mt ($486/mt) ex-works, while Izmir Demir Celik has opened its 12-32 mm rebar prices today with prices at TRY 2,839/mt ($486/mt) ex-works, both excluding VAT.
As of today, April 22, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
