As the third week of March begins, it is observed that demand in the local Turkish rebar market is still at low levels, while domestic rebar prices in Turkey have remained stable as compared to levels recorded on Friday, March 15, at TRY 2,712-2,763/mt ($497-506/mt) ex-warehouse and excluding 18 percent VAT. Market sources report that they do not expect a fall in domestic rebar prices in the short term due to high levels of scrap quotations. Meanwhile, buyers’ demand for domestic rebar is weak as they are observed to be limiting their purchases in line with their needs ahead of the local elections in Turkey to be held on March 31.
Meanwhile, Izmir Demir Celik and Icdas have both kept their domestic rebar sales prices stable as compared to their previous announcements on March 14 and March 11, respectively, at TRY 2,737/mt ($500/mt) ex-works and TRY 2,725/mt ($501/mt) ex-works, both excluding 18 percent VAT.
