Over the past week, demand in the local Turkish billet market has remained slack. According to market sources, due to the downwards movement of billet prices offered by Chinese and CIS-based suppliers, domestic billet demand in Turkey has weakened further and buyers have exerted pressure on prices. As a result, domestic billet prices in Turkey have declined by $10/mt on average to $470-480/mt ex-works. Another reasons for the pricing pressure in local Turkish billet market are weak demand for long steel and downwards movement of long steel prices in the country.
