The reference price for Brazilian rebar export offers remain at $455/mt, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries, stable over the last two weeks.
In the domestic market, rebar offers from producers in medium to large volumes are at BRL 3,034/mt ($619/mt) against BRL 3,274/mt two weeks ago ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s Southeast and South regions. For the North and Northeastern regions, prices are reportedly at BRL 3,114/mt ($636/mt), same conditions.
In May, Brazil exported 39,900 mt of rebar, against 20,900 mt in April. The main destinations were South American countries (24,700 mt at $480/mt), the US (7,600 mt at $495/mt) and Jamaica (7,400 mt at $515/mt), while a small volume was shipped to Benin, all FOB conditions, different quality grades and price deals probably closed in March. Gerdau exported 39,600 mt, while ArcelorMittal exported 300 mt.
No rebar imports were registered by Brazilian customs in May.
