The reference price range for Brazilian rebar exports remains at $450/mt to $460/mt, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade for sales to South American countries, stable over two weeks.

Still reflecting the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, producers remain offering discounts for large volumes in export sales to compensate for the low domestic demand, although some sources believe that an incipient recovery of rebar demand from the domestic housing sector could reduce the availability of material for export and exert a positive impact on rebar export prices.

In April, Brazil exported 20,900 mt of rebar, all destined to South American countries, in average at $491/mt, FOB conditions, different quality grades and price deals probably closed in February. ArcelorMittal exported 10,900 mt at $525/mt, while Gerdau exported 10,000 mt at $454/mt, all FOB conditions.
