Brazilian producers are negotiating wire rod of the mesh grade for export to Latin American countries in a price range of $560/mt to $580/mt FOB, against $570/mt to $580/mt FOB last week, a local market source told SteelOrbis.
Reduced domestic production continues, along with increased demand from Latin American countries and lackluster domestic demand for long products, due chiefly to the poor performance of the housing sector.
In August, Brazil exported 15,000 mt of wire rod, in average at $563/mt, FOB conditions, different quality grades and price deals probably closed in June.
Meanwhile, the country imported in August 4,000 mt of wire rod from Turkey at $508/mt and 1,100 mt from Germany at $874/mt, both FOB conditions and different quality grades.
Between January and July, Brazil imported 24,600 mt of wire rod from Turkey at $515/mt and 6,200 mt from Germany at $840/mt, same conditions as above.
